Crawlspace encapsulation involves sealing the crawlspace with a heavy-duty vapor barrier (typically 20-mil polyethylene) that covers the floor and extends up the walls. The goal is to create a sealed, conditioned space that blocks moisture, pests, and outside air from entering.
A complete encapsulation may also include sealing vents, adding a dehumidifier if needed, and insulating walls. The result is a dry, clean space that no longer contributes moisture or contaminants to your living areas.
